For our first spring concert, the Los Alamos Community Winds is proud to present
Special Guest Conductor and Clinician,
Chair of Composition at USC.
This concert will feature a Festival Honor Band, comprising middle and high school students,
under the direction of Mr. Ticheli and Ms. Chandra Blackston, Director of Instrumental Music at Lincoln Middle School, Rio Rancho.
In addition, we have the honor of presenting the
Albuquerque Concert Band
under the direction of John Sanks.
And, of course, the award-winning Los Alamos Community Winds, under the direction of Ted Vives!
All three bands will be playing pieces composed and conducted by Mr. Ticheli. LACW will be playing an instrumental arrangement of
Rest, along with other pieces.

Los Alamos Community Winds Awarded Second Place in the 2012 American Prize in the Community Division for Bands
LACW is proud to announce that the Los Alamos Community Winds has been awarded Second Place for the 2012 American Prize - Community
Band Division. This is a very special honor and it speaks to the dedication of all the members of the organization both past and current
who have done their part to make LACW the fine ensemble it has become.

Los Alamos Community Winds has Joined the David Avshalomov Band Commission Consortium
Along with 21 other bands, the Community Winds has commissioned American Prize winning composor David
Avshalomov to compose an extended work of wind band. Avshalomov's working title is "Vignettes."
This work was featured on the October 5, 2013 program.
