Our 2019-20 Season

The award-winning Los Alamos Community Winds (LACW) begins its 20th Season with an exciting slate of concerts and performances certain to have something for everyone’s taste.

The season begins with a performance at the Evening of Arts and Culture, Friday, Oct. 11 at Fuller Lodge. LACW will perform as part of the annual event, which showcases the rich variety of performance, visual and static arts this community has to offer. The event is still being planned.

The season opener is 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Crossroads Church.  In celebration of its 20 season, LACW will perform several favorites from past concerts including E.T. – Adventures on Earth by John Williams, as well as first time performances of Overture to “The Pearl Fishers” by Georges Bizet.

The annual Holiday Prism Concert is 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at Crossroads Church.

The second half of the season bring two special concerts to the forefront. At 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 the Los Alamos Community Winds will present a memorial concert for Judy Dudziak, with special guest soloist Dan Nebel. The concert will feature works by Richard Strauss, Ludwig van Beethoven, and P.I. Tchaikowsky at White Rock Baptist Church.

To cap off this 20th Anniversary Season and celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, LACW will present an all Beethoven concert and be joined by the Los Alamos Choral Society in a performance of Fantasie für Klavier, Chor, und Orchester (Choral Fantasy). The concert is 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2 in Duane Smith Auditorium.

LACW has a place for those who want to be a part of the concerts during this gala year. Players are welcome in any section of the band (woodwind, brass and percussion) and no auditon is required. There is a particular need right now for clarinets, bassoons, oboes, trumpets and percussion. Anyone interested in joining LACW this season should contact info@lacw.org.
